I grew up with dogs, and I never remember it being this much work. Not to stop you from getting a dog, but just do everything you want to do first before you agree to the responsibility. And I don't mean live out your party life for the last time (although you might want to). I'm talking every day crap, like going to the grocery store... going on vacation... staying out late. It's over the day you get a dog. As long as you're ready to commit to your best friend for life, go for it! Oh, and French Bulldogs are the best breeds for low-maintenance, apartment style living. They only need a little exercise, but they are expensive and hard to come by. And there are so many dogs that need to be rescued, so I would go that route first! My puppy is a jack russell mix, and she needs SO much exercise. But I am so, so, so happy I got her. She would have been euthanized the day I got her. :( I just adopted a dog 3 weeks ago. Dogs are pack animals and you would be his leader. Get a dog that is known for his quiet nature and just spend time with him.
